Guidelines for proposing a theme issue[edit]

IEEE S&P aims to stay abreast of this fast changing field, and theme issues on timely topics are an integral way we achieve that.

We invite proposals for theme issues that

  • focus on a topic of broad interest
  • propose a team of theme issue editors who are known to be leaders in the theme's field
  • identify potential authors who are also leaders in the theme's field

To avoid any appearance of conflict of interest, editors of theme issues should not submit their own work for consideration in the issue.

Template documents below should be used to propose a theme issue

Once a theme issue proposal is accepted, the timeline IEEE asks for is

  • week 0 - week 7 : CFP advertised
  • week 8 : deadline for submitted articles
  • week 12 : reviews are due
  • week 14 : recommendations by Guest Editor(s) due to IEEE S&P EiC
  • week 16 : EiC decisions due
  • week 19 : revisions due
  • week 21 : final reviews due
  • week 23 : final decisions due
  • week 25 : all final materials (papers and guest editorial) due

Proposals for theme issues should be emailed to IEEE S&P Associate Editor in Chief Terry Benzel
